Our precious baby girl

So it has taken almost 10 months to start a blog on Eliza Grace, but I have finally started it and I am excited to share our journey as parents to our little girl!

Eliza was born in Charleston, SC at the East Cooper Regional Medical Center on May 11, 2009 at 6:45 pm. She weighed 8 lbs 8 oz and was 20.5 inches long! I was induced at 8 AM and had my epidural by 11AM so I must say labor was a breeze for me! Eliza ended up being deliver via C-section as she was too big! When the doctor told us she was here I started balling and to be honest I am not sure how Barton reacted because I was so focused on seeing my baby. What a little angel she was! We were overjoyed! Eliza and Barton were taken out of the room and without my knowing Eliza was rushed to the nursery as she wasn't breathing. Barton held her hand the whole time and said he lost it when she finally let out a loud cry! I found out when I was in recovery that she was on oxygen, but was fine. That was pretty scary, but they brought her to me not too long after she started breathing and getting to hold her for the first time was the best feeling in the world!

Eliza has been an amazing baby and such a joy to watch grow up. She hit all her milestones a little early and she is stubborn and independent just like her mommy. She is the spitting image of Barton (thank goodness he is cute!!) and lights up when she sees him. Her first word and for now one of the only words she says is "dada". She will say mama every once in a while but for the most part it is all about dada. Eliza is constantly on the move and I am an on my toes and running for the most part of the day. She is a fast crawler, pulls up on everything, climbs the stairs and has started standing without holding onto anything within the past 3 weeks. She will walk when she holds onto furniture, but isn't walking quite yet. Yay!! She loves to clap, give you a high five and has started to wave hello and bye bye. She is really starting to understand how all of her toys function and being able to play with them without me having to work them for her. I love to watch her figure things out. She definitely is a focused child and very observant. She loves books and turns the pages and points at everything, but for the most part she loves books because she can eat them!

We are busy trying to get the outside ready for her to be able to play as soon as it gets warm again. I can't wait to spend the summer at the beach and the pool with her! I am going to have a little beach baby! So much fun! I look forward to keeping this blog up and I hope everyone will enjoy getting to watch her grow up along with us!
